Dear Ron,
I was really pleased to see how Fesseha responded to your curious
question(s). I was about to respond to you with my version, however I
would not spoil what you got for an answer already.

Incidentally, it is this kind of deep understanding of Eritrea and
Eritrean psych that draws one to be more Eritrean everyday. I wonder if
Dr. Assefa (Jaleta) also mentions how much of an Eritrean blood has been
spilled in the hot sands and mountains of Eritirea. Hope you will
understand if we broke our bones to see Eritrea and Eritreans along with
its good friends live in peace forever.

Best Regards,
A. G. Ephrem

Dear Ron,

You are talking to a highly educated and typical
"Amharized-Oromo", the pillars of the ex-ruling class, who have
now lost their privileged status in both the Amhara and Oromo
societies.

In the 60s, Eritreans were branded as foreign-backed
communists trying to separate Eritrea from its mother
Ethiopia. This was to buy the sympathy of Americans (who had
supported Ethiopia annex Eritrea)

In the mid-70s, another name change took place, and
Eritreans were branded as "Arab Agents", bent on
turning the Red Sea into an "Arab Sea". This was to buy the
sympathy of Israel.

In the late 70s, after the Cuban-led Kara Mara success,
against the Somalis and Oromos (by the way), Eritreans were
branded as members of the "Petrodollar reactionary" elements bent
on separating Eritrea for the benefit of Arab and American
"imperialism".

And, in order to buy the sympathy of Libya and South Yemen,
Eritreans were re-branded as Christian dominated in a land where
the majority were Muslims. "Ethiopia had more muslims" etc.

In the 80s, Eritreans were promoted and were branded members
of the "Bourgeoisie" and "reactionary" elements who should be
fought by the the international socialist forces. This was to
buy the sympathy of the Eastern block countries, some of whom
considered the Fronts as "socialists".

Now, Dr. Assefa (Jaleta) and the same group who were
branding Eritreans as they saw fit, have escaped to the USA with
all the education they earned from the taxes of the sweat of the
poor Oromo and Amhara peoples. They have created a new brand
name for Eritreans. "American-assisted" agents bent on, as you
quote him saying "policing" the Oromo and Sudan.

Take your time, Ron, you will find Eritreans being given
another name....
Fisseha Habte
