POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN MEDICAL PHYSICS
There is a postdoctoral fellowship available for fulltime research in
Medical Physics at the Biophysics Department of the University of the Orange
Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa. The department is involved
in research projects in Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy and Diagnostic
Radiology Departments.
It is available for outstanding foreign candidates to undertake
fulltime research in South Africa. The fellowships will be awarded in
competition, based on academic achievements and potential as researchers, to
candidates who have recently obtained their doctoral degrees (i.e. in
the last 5 years).
Value of a fellowship:
1997: Maximum of R 50 000 (USD 11 100) / year.
1998: Maximum of R 55 000 (USD 12 200) / year.
A contribution of up to a maximum of R 5000 (USD 1100) towards
airfare costs will also be considered for foreign candidates
undertaking research in South Africa.
>From 1998 onwards support will be given for two years with the
possibility of renewal for a further year in exceptional
well-justified cases.
