Hello Abraham

Thank you for responding to my posting.

I agree with you. The government is doing a lot to improve the education in
Eitrea. Sending Eritreans to other countries to get education is part of their
effort to get knowledge. The problem is if the government does not provide the
necessary jobs for them in Eritrea, these students would most probably choose
to stay in the west where they can earn more money. As you know there are a
lot of educated Eritreans in other countries who do not see a reason to go
back home.

I am convinced that the government knows they are responsible for the
industrial development in Eritrea. But they are not actively pushing for it.
Their effort seems to be directed towards activities that do not require high
technology. They are privatizing the government owned companies while
simultaneously investing in other new companies. For example they are selling
the old hotels while they are financially participating in the new 5 star
hotel to be built in Asmara. But they have never established a company that
can produce goods for export. This makes me believe that they are only
investing in companies which are easy to manage and which do not require high
technological know how.
Thank you for responding to my posting.

Hi Dehai and mulugheta.

Thanks for bringing up such interesting topic .

You wrote: " The country should invest in hiring foreigners that are capable
of
establishing and running the desired industries". A lot of African countrys
have treid this
way, but they have failed to take the next step: " The aim of the government
should of course be to gradually replace the foreigners by nationals and to
transfer the ownership to the private sector by selling stocks". So the
challenge for Eritrea
is to combine foreigner professionals and own people. Since very few Eritrean
abroad
are willing to go back home . The only choice for the government is to send
people
abroad like is doing until now to get more knowledge and of course to
strength technicall
education back home.
