Selam Seb Dehai,
Please allow me to use Dehai to send a note of thanks to those Dehai
members who came to the program organized by the Eritrean Accounting
Association (EAA) and co-sponsored by the Association of Eritrean
Professionals and Scholars (AEPSA) to discuss the Accounting Curriculum at
the University of Asmara, on March 29, 1997, at Georgetown Univeristy,
Wahsington D.C. I don't have e-mail addresses of several of those who were
present at the meeting and it is only through Dehai that I can reach them.
To all those who were present at the meeting and didn't receive my e-mail
message privately:
I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for your presence and
your active participation during my presentation on: "A Critical Analysis
of the Accounting Curriculum at the University of Asmar."
The questions you raised, the comments you made, and the suggestions you
offered me have been very helpful. As the result of the discussion we had,
I was able to see certain dimensions that I had not considered before. I
will modify my paper accordingly, and I can assure you the paper will be
much improved as a result.
I know full well that you could have spent your gorgeous Saturday
afternoon doing many other interesting things in beautiful Washington,
D.C. The fact that you chose to come to hear my presentation, amply
demonstrates your interest in participating on activities dealing with
Eritrea.
What we did on Saturday was to bring our heads together to make a
modest contribution to our country's educational system to the best of our
ability. Much is expected of us, educated Eritreans in the Diaspora, and
the discussion we had on Saturday, to me, is a step in the right
direction towards meetings those expectations, albeit in a small way.
I would also like to ask you to spread the word about the Eritrean
Accounting Association (EAA) to other Eritrean Accountants. Please
encourage any one interested to join EAA to contact me, or any of the
other EAA Officers listed below. What is even better is to encourage them
to become EAA members, by sending their membership dues of $100 ($50 for
students) payable to the Eritrean Accounting Association, and mail it to
EAA Treasurer, Lemlem T. Natnael, 3722 Broomsedge Ct. Fairfax, VA 22033.
The following are EAA Officers:
Araya Debessay, President, E-Mail Address: debessay@udel.edu
Daniel Michael, Secretary, E-Mail Address: dmichael@barents.com
Lemlem T. Natnael, Treasurer, E-Mail Address: natnael_lemlem@bah.com
John Tesfazghi, Chairman, Membership Drive Committee: JTTE@chevron.com
Again, please accept my very sincere thanks and appreciation.
Sincerely yours,
Araya Debessay
President, EAA
