Selam Ephrem,
Rightly so! If the donation is within the development need of the country
and has got a green light ahead of time by the concerned government
department, then, it should be tax-free.
But I raised questions to highlight one point: concern showed in Dehai for
the development of info teck (computers, etc.) vis a' vis tax constraints.
I'm hoping that by answering my questions, people realize that it's not
one or two computers that you and I send to friends or family that will
help in the info tech dev of Eritrea. Those programs (usually donations)
that have objective goals and that provide a large volume of computers
are the ones that make a difference and thus are tax-free (in line with
your assertion -donation).
BTW:
>matter for any elite of the government (even it is for personal use).
are you telling me that if I send a computer to a friend or family who is
placed high in government can get it without paying taxes like the rest
of us? I don't think so.
Amanuel
