Selam Gemena and Dehai:-

By now everyone must be tired of this thread.

Let me comment on your latest mail to Ghidewon. It
seems to me that many debaters have confused the subject
of democracy in Eritrean context with our national unity
or the essence of our Eritreanity. That's why I hate the
"sgay-sgaKa" approach since I believe it is misleading.
Democracy is not about caring or sharing or "sgay-sgaKa."
Democracy has nothing to do with justice either (BTW, notice
the wisdom of EPLF putting Justice and Democracy side by side
in PFDJ!). And I don't think there is a thing as "Eritrean democracy"
or "US democracy" or "Namibian democracy." The laws of
democracy are universal. When we talk about "Eritrean context"
we are only referring to the methods on "how" we are going to
implement it; and what obstacles we are going to avoid. Just like
the Constitution. So let's not hide by the "context" and try to demonize the
"Western democracy".

But the question is not about making the "same houses". The question is
about making houses. Period. I would rather have any kind of house instead
of being homeless. BTW, if I can afford having the same "American houses"
and am happy with it, what is wrong with that? I don't think there is a
monopoly here? Or? Besides, you don't build a house just to mimic. You build
it for your own comfort.

Democray doesn't come in a package. You bring the best equipments and
spareparts you can find and assemble it yourself. You may make mistakes.
(Ghandi once said: " A democracy that doesn't allow the right to err is not a
democracy") But you will reach you goal gradually. That's the "Eritrean
context."
