Hello seb Dehai:
I don't know about you my friends, but I found the 'Baked Beans'
humor to be very entertaining. It reminded me of a somewhat similar
humor which I was told some years back.
A woman with a heavy load of produce on her back started
her way to Asmara from Zagher (Hamasien). This was before liberation.
This travelling woman, who probably had over-fed herself with boiled beans
& other trouble causing legums, started having one gas problem after another
as soon as she left Zagher. Well, the gas pressure became unbearable, so,
she let it go. On the process of releasing herself from the pressure,
naturally she made a big noise ..Boom!! just like that of small bomb..respond-
ing to the noise she made, with a loud voice she said 'Zagher Hizoma'..meaning
the fighters liberated Zagher. It was a relief & pleasure for her, partly
because she released herself from the pressure and partly was the fantay of
having her own village liberated ...just the thought of it. Poor woman, she did-
n't go too far before she had another gas-build-up. This time she did it
again. She broke the wind ..Boom..and she said Quazen Hizoma meaning
the fighters liberated the village of Quazen (Hamasien). She walked
for a while and another buid up again & she did & said the same thing..boom
Azen Hizoma..She did it again and again and again and liberated all
the surrounding villages like Woki, Adi sheKa and Belaza. AS she passed
Beleza and approached Adi Nefas, she heard a noise and for the first
time since she left Zagher, she looked back and saw a man walking behind
her. She was shocked at the fact that someone was behind her all the time she
was making loud noises. She turned arround and said to the man:
..'atum me'As de-a metsiKum'? Meaning 'when did come or since when
did you start following me'? The man pointing his finger and using
his typical Hamasien accent said: 'Zafgher k't'teHaz kela'..
meaning I was behind you since the liberation of Zagher.
