It is amazing how many of us are trying to be, "POLITICALLY CORRECT", post the Ethio-Eritrea 1998-2000 or THE EEBC VERDICT; HOWEVER, political correctness ONLY works in the capital of the western or eastern world because nobody dies of bullets, nobody dies of hunger, nobody dies of ignorance, and in that case everybody benefits. If that is the case then why are we in the horn of Africa can not also practice, "political correctness"? and here are some of the reasons that we can not practice, "politically correctness", 1- the rulers in Ethiopia have made part of their business to lure western and eastern world for a dollars and cents at the epense of the 90 million peasant Ethiopians, 2- the rulers of Ethiopia continues to be partners of the legal/illegal trafficking business at the expense of the 90 million peasants, 3- the rulers of Ethiopia mastered well in the illegal lucritive business with all criminals and terrorists of the region as well as the whole world networks, 4- the rulers of Ethiopia continues to work with the cash hungry western so called representatives in the capital of Aids and environs at the expense of 90 million peasants, and lastly 5- the rulers of Ethiopia immoral political practice continues to attract all the immoral and criminals of the horn of Africa to do lucritive business in midst of 90 millions peasants of Ethiopia. There is really no assumption here. It is black and white. I hate to use the infamous George W Bush slogan during the 2nd Iraq Invasion by the American lead forces: "You are with us or you are with the terrorists". Now, notwithstanding what he arrogantly termed "Terrorists", what he meant was that there is no middle ground, which can be surmised as "One is either an Eritrean who does everything possible for the well being of Eritrea, or he is with Eritrea's enemies" and who is not ashamed in serving their evil desires to see to it that Eritrea cease to exist as we know it today. Nobody is saying that everything is rosy in Eritrea – it is not. There may even be a blame here and there that goes around, including our Government. But to conveniently and maliciously forget the extreme condition in which our country is going through is an outright irresponsible behaviour and boils down to downright selfishness and greed. I am not here to defend the government of Eritrea for it is capable of defending itself. But we should all be proud of our government that is making tremendous progress in spite of the unbelievable hurdles that is being thrown at it via declared and undeclared sanctions. It is easy to say that Eritrea has been sanctioned since 2009. But what may be easily forgotten is, the US and other western nations have been doing their best to demonize our government and they had sanctioned Eritrea ever since we declared our independence, and certainly after the Weyane instigated war of aggression of 1998. This is of course, not mentioning what the US has been doing since the 1940s! One doesn’t have to go further than looking on what the US and Weyanes, as its obedient servant, have been trying to chock Eritrea. Under such conditions, it is understandable that some Eritreans would jump an otherwise perfectly sailing robust ship for various reasons, the most suspect being ECONOMIC hardship. I wish the kids who are illegally crossing the Eritrean border to track down the unknown routes through the vast deserts and deep seas of the world to what they probably perceive a greener pasture, didn't. But some are doing it and many are finding the harder way that all is not well and not necessarily as promising as they were led to believe. The people and government of Eritrea place invaluable value on these kids, and the Government is the last organ that wishes anything bad to happen to these people. But the Government cannot do much to control their movement if these kids are doing it illegally and with greater risk factor. Whether the hard currency they pay to the human traffickers, many of them bustard Arabs, comes from their poor families at home or from those in the Diaspora, it is money that could have been used for their own well being right there in Eritrea. After all many of them are not stupid. They are educated academically and trained vocationally. So, after they went out; and those who were lucky enough that made it alive, wouldn’t the decent thing to do be gracious to the people and Government of Eritrea that accorded them the theoretical and practical skills they can use anywhere in the world? I think that would have been the right thing to do and many of them do. But, there are some, to cover up the crimes they used against their own country, they are quick in talking trash about the Government and belittle that country that educated them with no cost to them, provided them with free medical services etc.! That is where I believe they are crossing the RED LINE. The other day I watched a video where some Eritrean, who was a fighter, and who is in Canada accusing PIA (paraphrasing him): that “Esseyas is and was always a foreign agent – he never cared for Eritrea or fought for Eritrea’s independence, he does not have an Eritrean blood in him – how could he?” These kind of outright lies are what would make us puke. With such statements coming from what he said was a ተጋዳላይ, can the Debesays out there really fault us for being cautious on who is who on our shores and our reluctance to offer rose flower to the people who have broken national laws to join the likes of Debessay (regardless whether Debessay is an Eritrean or a pretender)? Where I differ from you and agree with Abeden is that I see the same side of the coin as Abeden does. I hope my assumption is correct Abeden. In the first place, the cause to the youth overflow from Eritrea in search of better life has been described in one famous sentence several times in Dehai as “IT IS THE ECONOMY, STUPID”. Most economists of the world agree with this phrase. It is the single phrase uttered in reference to the United States of America’s socio-political malaise that caused the defeat of George Bush Senior in the 1990s. Hence, if Eritrea’s economy was not strangulated by the powers-that-be and politically isolated in order for the West to help their client state, Ethiopia, no Eritrean would dream of leaving his home to undergo the suffering that is taking place now. So, IT IS THE ECONOMY. Lack of economic progress causes frustration, Frustration causes the youth to venture or misadventure in search of greener grass. There is no way that we cannot agree on that. I hope you agree with me that the Woyane is using that frustration to make matters worse. You and your likes are being used to contribute to that EVIL scheme innocently; i.e. DEMONIZE THE ERITREAN GOVERNMENT. Let me give you just ONE example. Quisling was eventually captured on May 9, 1945, and executed on October 24, 1945. Today, Quisling’s name is synonymous with treason and collaboration. In short, I agree with Abeden. We in diaspora could organise dinner parties and contribute through --TEaWET!project -- and voluntarily contribute 100USD each, we can establish modern fishing factory for work opportunities to the people and for the betterment of our warsays and ykaalos family life by selling the fish and pay them the share, just like we contribute for our martyrs family and disabled war veterans. This is a nobble and living History in the future. They give all they have for the country so why not we borrow them our hand to take care of their families? Have you read the history of “Benedict Arnold”, a man who was a decorated hero of America? He was the man, on the side of George Washington, who liberated his country and people from British colonialism. But, being British descendent, he went back to reverse the independence of his country. He went back as far as leading the defeated British army to defeat the very army he built. He went back to reverse the course of history, the very of course of history he shaped. The quatsion is what is the solution? To find a solution first you have to understand the problem. the main problem in our country is that there is no social safety net. A typical family faces a problem. The problem is that while the youngsters are defeding the country, the very young and the very old are not taking care of. Secondly no one is farming the the family land because all are defending the country. Can the dmb people propose a solution? What can eritreans living abroad do collectively? What can people living inside eritrea do cooperatively to better their living standards? Can we creat a farming cooperation that benefit both the farmers and eritrean investors that live abroad? we could do the same with the fishery industry. The highest office in any given nation issues these promotions. In Eritrea's case it would be the office of the president. Of course it follows formality and chain of command. So if one has issues with any individual who may have achieved such status and now my disagrees with the regimes policies perhaps needs to take it up with person who promoted him. As a regular reader of dehai I read a couple articles written about Dafla and Meron. Both promised more would follow to no avail. In the case of Dafla-which anyone can read since it is on the net- one of the things that he was accused was he would imprison people who may have committed no crime save for the grudge he may be holding over these people. That got me thinking, a government official can do that in Eritrea? And now we are being regaled how a former fighter was from Tiigray via his father. As if the unborn child chooses parents. He could have spent his youth in the wilderness of Tigray but he chose the land he loved. He may have had shown leadership qualities for him to attain such a high military rank. Since when is it a crime for people to fall in love? Is it a crime if an Eritrean girl went out with an African American male. Or are we to be brain washed by the racist portrayal of the black American male? A few days ago some one posted about a girl in Germany that went out with blacks and she was a sort of out cast. How bigoted can one get than this. There are many Eritreans who hold a position of authority who have blood relations with their southern brothers. Let alone the two people who share border, culture and language. We are mixed with all the neighboring nations. There have been half Eritrean and half Sudanese who fought and some chose to identify as Sudanese. Some chose Ethiopia some chose Eritrea. Let us not turn Eritrea into a birther nation. If a person has betrayed his/her nation is one thing and ought to be exposed. But to nit pick about a birth that may be factual or total falsehood show the level of the moral bankruptcy of the people who peddle this nonsense. I was so proud of those parents who brought their chidren and allow them to participate in what I call the none-Eritrean tradition sports-Soccer. First the first time I felt so optimistic many Eri-Americans have multi-talents in sports as well as academics. I was so proud of those parents who allow their chidren to enroll as basketball players, baseball players, swimmers, and so on; HOWEVER, I was also sad not to see those other parents who are nay sayers to their children activities. When we allow our children to participate in all kind of events its for many reasons: physical activities and develope many life lasting networking. For those of you who have children or in process of having one please don't hesitate to let your children participate in all fronts of life WITH YOUR OWN GUIDANCE. As to Debesay, do not forget that you and I were born in the midst of American made bombs and babtised with Russian made bombs.
